Experience

Tutoring Experience: In high school, I tutored to fulfill National Honors Society requirements each year in a variety of subjects. In college, I have worked as a Writing Tutor at Ithaca College's Writing Center and I recently got promoted to Administrative Tutor there. At the Writing Center, we assist students in all areas of writing (brainstorming, outlining, revising, etc.) for expository, creative, and scientific papers. I am also editors on two different magazines at Ithaca College. First, I am the Satire Editor on Ithaca College's alternative magazine, Buzzsaw. Second, I am the Fiction Editor on Ithaca College's literary magazine, Stillwater. Both jobs have furthered my skills in workshopping and assisting students in strengthening their work for publication. Test Scores: I received an 1890 on the SATs when taking them in 2013. Specific experience in each listed field: My writing experience is detailed above in my tutoring experience section. I am also a Writing Major, so my main course of study has been just that! As for English, my minor at Ithaca College allows me to take rigorous courses in relation to the subject. I also received a 4 on the AP English Literature and Composition test my senior year in high school. In terms of Psychology, I received a 4 on the AP Psychology test when taking it my senior year of high school. I am also just two classes away from completing a Psychology minor at Ithaca College, but my courseload won't allow for three minors (darn!). For art, I studied under a private tutor from the time I was ten years old to my graduation from high school. I have received numerous awards and honors from student and community art shows. Toward the end of my tutoring under my teacher, I was allowed to instruct the younger students, so I have first-hand experience with teaching art. I also took the AP Studio Art 2-D concentration in high school, so I would be able to assist students in their own portfolios. I have also taken French classes since I was a freshman in high school. I placed in the top 20th percentile of the National French Exam on two different occasions and served as the secretary for my school's French Club. I continued that study into college, declaring a French minor soon after. I also spent a semester studying abroad at IAU College in Aix-En-Provence, France in the Fall of 2015. There, I closely studied French culture, language, and literature. Relevant college courses: Writing: Creative Writing, Personal Essay, Intro to Fiction Writing, Intro to Poetry Writing, Fiction Writing II, Argument, Intro to the Essay. English: Shakespeare, Intro to Poetry, European City in Literature, Literature of Horror, Re-Imagining the Classics, Graphic Non-Fiction. Psychology: Psychology of Adjustment, Matters of the Mind: Neuroscience and Psychology. French: At Ithaca College: French II-01 and 02, French III-01 and 02, 17th and 18th Century Dramatic French Literature.
